“WE ARE PRIVILEGED TO HAVE YOU AS AN ALUMNUS” – UNICAL VC TO NDOMA-EGBA

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Banku Obi has extolled the virtues of a former Senate Leader and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba during a courtesy visit to the University by the Senator. Speaking during the visit, Prof. Obi thanked Sen. Ndoma-Egba for the visit and described him as a “distinguished alumnus and critical stakeholder of the University of Calabar”.

Prof. Obi, who was visibly excited by the visit of a familiar figure to the University stated that “we are privileged to have you in our University, and we are very happy for your interest in us.” She added that the University recognizes and commends the efforts of Sen. Ndoma-Egba towards the construction of the new law faculty building. “You are our own and you have been there for us,” she said.

Prof. Obi said that the University will explore areas of partnership with the former Senator for mutual benefits. Speaking further, she enthused that “we are privileged to have you as an alumnus of our University, and we are very happy for your interest in us. We thank you because we know you have been doing a lot for the University”.

Earlier, Senator Victor Ndoma Egba had congratulated Prof. Florence Obi on her deserved appointment as the 11th and first female Vice Chancellor of the University. He described her as a ‘woman of integrity who has made great exploits in the academic world’.
He committed to render any necessary support and assistance in order for her to achieve the goals of her administration.

The Senator expressed his implicit confidence in the ability of the Vice Chancellor to take the institution to enviable heights and urged her not to hesitate to reach out to any group or individuals, including himself, who are willing to partner with her for the continuous growth and development of the institution. He promised that “you will always have my support any time you need it and I believe same goes for all well meaning groups and individuals who are interested in the elevation of Unical to enviable heights”.

Senator Ndoma-Egba reiterated his bias for the legal profession which he belongs to by reminding the VC about his direct involvement in the construction of the new law faculty building in the institution, adding that the building which is still under construction will be completed in no distant time.
