The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), inaugurated its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit.
Babatunde Irukera, the Commission’s Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive delivered a keynote address at the event.
He said the Unit was an internal mechanism for improving operations, noting that “an accountability framework is an important watchman over what people do.”
Mr. Olayinka Aiyegbayo fsi represented the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices & Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Professor Bolaji Olufunmileyi Owasanoye, SAN, while the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Evelyn Ngige, was represented by Engr. Bello Kwalli.
Prof. Owasanoye, SAN, in a goodwill message, urged the Unit to complement management’s efforts in promoting transparency and accountability.
On her part, Dr. Evelyn Ngige, said the inauguration was a demonstration of the Commission’s “commitment to fight against misconduct and corrupt practices.”
The Commission’s Executive Commissioner (Operations), Dr. Adamu Abdullahi, and the Executive Commissioner (Corporate Services), Mr Kolawole Alabi, as well as top management staff attended the event.
