Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has filed a motion seeking the transfer of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) case against him to Kogi State. Bello’s legal team argues that since the alleged offenses were committed while he was governor of the state, it is only fitting that the case be heard in Kogi State.
According to sources close to the case, Bello’s lawyers contend that holding the trial in Kogi State will ensure a fair and impartial hearing, as well as allow for easier access to witnesses and evidence. The EFCC has yet to respond to the motion, and the court has not yet ruled on the matter.
