Vice President’s Wife Clarifies Alleged Rejection of Female ADC

Nana Shettima, the wife of the Vice President, reportedly rejecting a female Aide-De-Camp (ADC) who was assigned to her. The allegations suggested that the rejection was based on the ADC’s appearance and marital status.

However, shedding light on the situation, Ameen Amshi, a former aspirant for the national youth leader position within the All Progressives Congress (APC), provided some insights. It is important to note that the timing of the ADC’s assignment to the Vice President’s wife remains unconfirmed.

In a statement shared via Twitter on Sunday, Amshi disputed the claims, asserting that Nana Shettima’s decision to decline the ADC was not based on superficial factors. Instead, he explained that she preferred to retain her former ADC, who had served her during her husband’s tenure as the Governor of Borno State.

Amshi clarified the process of assigning security details or aides to VIPs, emphasizing that it entails a thorough selection procedure that varies across security agencies. Typically, at least three competent personnel are evaluated based on their service records. The most suitable candidate is then presented to the VVIP/VIP for approval, and upon acceptance, the personnel is officially assigned to the individual.

Highlighting Nana Shettima’s previous experience in the corridors of power, where she worked with an ADC during her eight-year tenure as the governor’s wife in Borno, Amshi pointed out that the same ADC who served her during that time was present at her inauguration.

Amshi also underscored the Shettima family’s reputation for maintaining long-term relationships with their staff and workers, including retaining security details that had served the Vice President when he was Governor. Given this history, it is unlikely that Nana Shettima would deviate from her established practices, as she has consistently prioritized following due process in her official dealings, including the assignment of security personnel to VIPs and VVIPs.
