The Chief Medical Director CMD, University of Abuja Teaching Hospital Gwagwalada UATH, Professor Bissala Ekele says the fifth Staff annual award ceremony organised was put in place to improve services in the tertiary health institution.
He made this speech during the 2022 annual staff award held at the hospital premises on Wednesday in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
“The introduction in 2018 of the staff award was to celebrate staffers and partners/ contributors to the development of the hospital, approved by the board of the hospital.” Professor Ekele said.
Professor Ekele maintained that the successes of the health tertiary institution was the buisness of all , saying we are all winners.
He commended the Board, Management and former Chief Medical Directors, Ag CMD for their supports and contributions to the physical and other developement of the hospital.
Professor Ekele eulogises the Chairman of the Board, Dr Sam Sam Jaja for attracting various developmental projects to the health institution, saying even the blind can see the unique projects all around.
In his contributions, the Board Chairman says the award was to motivate staffers in the course of carrying out their legitimate jobs, saying the winners should be challenged to do more for the hospital.
He congratulated the partners and contributors to the development of the hospital, saying more will be expected on their parts interms of more supports.
He commended the paramount ruler of Gwagwalada, the Aguma of Gwagwalada for his supports, peaceful co-existence to the development of the hospital.
Dr Samson Olori who won the maiden award of the hospital for separation of conjoined twins in 2018 , a record not broken after sometimes by the National hospital.
Others are Dr Dike Ojijo in 2019,
Dr Vivian Kwaghe in 2020 at the heat of COVID- I9 while
Professor Felicia Anumah won in 2021 for attracting various developmental projects to the hospital.
The CMD commended the previous leadership particularly under Dr Danjuma Sulai , Dr Peter Alabi and Dr Nandu Dufa.
Staffs of both medical and non medical departments were honored at the occasion.
