The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has implemented new visa regulations for Nigerian nationals, stipulating that only individuals aged 45 and above can apply for a visa to visit the country. This announcement follows the UAE’s acceptance of visa applications from Nigerians, but it comes with a strict set of requirements.
According to the guidelines, Nigerian tourists must maintain a bank balance of at least $10,000 (approximately N16 million) to qualify for a 30- or 60-day travel visa. Applicants are required to provide a six-month bank statement showing a closing balance of no less than $10,000 each month, along with a confirmed return ticket on Emirates Airlines.
Additional conditions include a confirmed hotel booking and a valid residence permit from the applicant’s country of residence.
This development comes after a diplomatic dispute between Nigeria and the UAE that had previously restricted Nigerian travel to the UAE since September 2022. Following negotiations, the Emirati authorities have lifted the visa ban, but the new guidelines impose significant limitations on eligible travelers.
