Bandits have taken control of two communities in Kaduna state sacking all residents and forcing them to desert their respective homes WAR has learned.
Some of the sacked residents, who spoke to WAR, said the Fulani herdsmen attacked Buruku and Rumana communities on the 6th day of January, sacked all residents, and took over e control of the community.
The two communities located along Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna state have since been abandoned with many of the residents now staying at the Ungwan Zawo Internally Displaced Person camp at Goningora along Kaduna Buhari road.
Miss Chioma, who is one of the survivors while narrating the incident to WAR, explained that the traditional chief of Ungwan Zawo had given the IDPs lands to build their houses and farm, but was stopped from building by Mr. Nasir El-rufai, the Kaduna state governor who asked them to wait for state government approval.
She said the Kaduna governor argues that the buildings have to get state-approved land to avoid possible demolition in the future.
Mr. Peter Yohana, one of the IDPs, told WAR, the communities that were displaced and taken over by the bandits and Christian dominated.
Asked when they are going to return to their home and be resettled, he said there is no assurance they will ever return, pointing out that the communities have been overrun by the bandits.
