Tragedy Strikes Plateau Community: Over 40 Killed in Bandit Attack

A devastating attack on Zurak village in Bashar District of Wase local government area of Plateau State has left more than 40 people dead, including vigilantes. The bandit assault occurred on Monday around 5:00 p.m. when residents were going about their daily activities, OBSERVERSTIMES report

According to eyewitnesses, the bandits arrived on motorcycles, two riders per bike, armed with sophisticated weapons and opened fire indiscriminately. Sahpi’i Sambo, a youth leader in the area, confirmed the incident, stating, “More than 40 people were killed, and many others injured. The villagers have fled to neighboring communities for safety.”

The attack was carried out in a remote area with poor communication networks, delaying reports of the incident. As of yesterday, security personnel had not yet arrived at the scene.

The Plateau State police command has yet to respond to inquiries about the attack. The incident has left the community in shock and mourning, with many calling for increased security measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
