Segun Sowunmi, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has said President Bola Tinubu is confused about how to manage Nigeria’s ailing economy.
Mr Sowunmi stated this during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Monday while discussing some of the tough economic decisions taken by the Tinubu administration.
He said: “I am so optimistic and I say it to people who ask me if Tinubu can’t figure out these things I wonder who can. I think that, one, he is confused. Two, to be smiling at Mele Kyari an explanation has to be made then.
“I don’t understand what the CBN people are doing about the value of the currency. Are they telling me that by their imagination, by floating the currency, Nigeria’s currency will become toilet paper?
“What exactly constitutes the science and commerce of pricing petrol when you are refining in your country.
“I have been reading a lot of books on how we can work around this pricing and the research is still ongoing. When I am done with it, I will come out with what we can consider.”
Speaking on the crisis rocking the PDP, Mr Sowunmi said the party will come out of it stronger.
While lambasting the ruling All Progressives Congress for the poor management of the nation’s economy and diversity, the PDP chieftain described the party as “a gang of zombies”.
‘With due respect, the APC must be deceiving itself, if it thinks that it is a political party, it might be in government, I don’t have a problem with that… It is a gang of zombies,” he said.
