Those Lagosians You Brought To Abuja To Fix Nigeria Are Useless; Dismantle Them – APC Leader tells Tinubu

by

A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jesutega Onokpasa, has publicly lambasted President Bola Tinubu for favoring Lagos-based politicians in his appointments. In a scathing critique, Onokpasa described Tinubu’s current appointees as “useless” and lacking the competency to lead the country effectively.

Onokpasa argued that Tinubu’s approach of mobilizing Lagosians to fix Nigeria is “mathematically incongruous” and urged the President to dismantle his current team and rebuild a more inclusive, Nigerian-centric core. This criticism echoes concerns raised by other APC members last year, who accused Tinubu of making lopsided appointments that favor individuals from the South West region, particularly the Yoruba ethnic group.

The Progressive Change Ambassadors of Nigeria (PCAN) group had called for more balance and inclusiveness in Tinubu’s appointments to promote national unity. They emphasized that the President’s appointments should reflect the diversity of Nigeria, rather than being skewed towards a particular region or ethnic group.

Onokpasa’s comments have sparked a heated debate within the APC, with some members defending Tinubu’s appointments as merit-based and others calling for greater inclusivity. As the controversy continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how Tinubu will respond to these criticisms and whether he will take steps to address the concerns of his party members.
