A Nigerian woman has warned that food will be scarce in Nigeria in 2024 due to the heightened level of insecurity in the Northern part of the country.
In a video making rounds on social media, the yet-to-be-identified lady, disclosed that she is a farmer based in the North, while making the hefty allegations.
She asserted that the killings in the North are masterminded by people interested in the illegal mining of mineral resources in the region.
Speaking further, she claimed that majority of the attacks take place in areas with fertile land and deposits of valuable natural resources.
According to her, the assailants target those villages, forcing residents to evacuate the area, and they then go back to engage in illegal mining activities.
Her words;
“Do you know that most of these places under attack in Northern Nigeria have some of the biggest Natural resources underneath the ground and the trading of those Natural resources are going on while people are being killed in those communities. Do you know?
Let me bring you up to speed real quick. If you realize, some of the most fertile lands in Northern lands in Nigeria are the ones being attacked. Most of our fresh, beautiful vegetables and fruits come from Plateau state. Do you know what is underneath these fertile land? It is also solid minerals.
People are killed daily while miners are mining those lands. How can you raze down an entire village, bring it down to ashes, evacuate everybody there and go behind their backs to go and be mining their gold. How wicked can you be.
Do you know that it is not only affecting our economy but also the food supply for the common man who cannot afford to eat.
I am a farmer. The rate at which food is going to be scarce in 2024, you are not ready for it. Things that we buy for as low as N20, 000 when they are in surplus , we bought for N80, 000 when it was in surplus. You are not ready for it.”
