The recent announcement of Bishop David Abioye’s retirement from Living Faith Church upon reaching the age as required in the law of of the Church(Winners Chapel ) may have sent a goose pimples kind of feelings to some Congregants, evoking emotions, grounded in deep disappointments.
Bishop Abioye has been one of the prominent figures in the church and unlike many who disconnected their Sonships to their Masters to establish their own Ministry where they are now independent and are now called “General Overseers” The humble Bishop Abioye choses to serve meritoriously, with an unadultrated loyalty and humility under his Master(Bishop David Oyedepo) without a second thought despite his popularity.
Though the reported Retirement may not be the end of an era for him in Exploits or continuing to do justice to the Gospel of Christ, but there’s need to also bring to the forefront the ongoing controversial leadership styles which seems to sentimental in adjudging its own Doctrine.
Bishop David Abioye has decades of dedicated Service to the ministry, deeply influencing countless lives through his teachings and guidance.
Under the leadership of Bishop David Oyedepo, he played a pivotal role in the church’s expansion and outreach, contributing to its reputation as a powerhouse of faith and prosperity.
His messages often emphasized the importance of faith, commitment, and resonating with believers around the world.
For some , the news of Bishop Abioye’s retirement stings, to me, it’s the relinquishment of a guiding figure whose teachings have profoundly shaped many of their spiritual journeys.
I as a Christian, I find it worrisome, noticing some element of politics in the House of God, it comes with the emotional weight of Dismay, as I wrestle with my conviction and feelings if this act is proper and healthy for those who are growing in Faith.
Of course, It’s already a common knowledge that some modern Leaders of Churches are fraught with controversies, with a growing disconnect between church and some young Christians.
The leadership struggles, and controversies over doctrine—serve as distractions from the core mission of the church: to spread the love and teachings of Christ.
This turmoil may cause the faithful feeling to suffer, and a temptation to succumb to the views of some Critics of Church Leaders is now stronger than ever.
To me, there’s need for Honest conversations through any platform to avert any possible disaffection in Christiandom.
However, it’s pertinent to note that nothing shall separate me from the Love of Christ, as I, with no option available, would continue have to serve the Lord my God in all the days of my Life.
Again, in all of these, I would continue to honor the past, while looking forward to a future filled with hope and purpose in the Vineyard.
