The Nasarawa assembly supports the Supreme Court’s ruling on local government autonomy.

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has expressed its support for the recent Supreme Court ruling that provides complete financial independence to the 774 Local Government Areas nationwide.

During the House proceedings in Lafia on Monday, Speaker of the House Danladi Jatau praised the Supreme Court’s ruling on the issues of public importance raised by House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Chairman Musa Abubakar (NNPP- Doma North).

The Speaker emphasized that the Supreme Court’s ruling would lead to accelerated progress at the local level nationwide.

He extended his congratulations to the 774 local government areas for their triumph, characterizing the decision as a win for democracy.
