THE DEKINA/BASSA FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY HIJACK, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH —- David Alfred-Dogwo

The mercy of Bassa local government area has been in the hands of Dekina local government area to smell the exalted position at House of Representative National Assembly Abuja. Not out of choice but because Bassa is less populated.

We got such opportunity once, when His Blessed Memory the former governor of Kogi state Prince Abubakar Audu decided the fate of Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency and pleaded with Dekina to allow Late Isaac Jimba ride the horse. After the death of Audu, the dream of Bassa started blinking. Dekina has held it four times instead of rotating with Bassa.

Today, we are yet to see that leader from Dekina that will speak for Bassa. But we should all understand that being a minority is not an offense to good living and participation. Bassa should not only be recognized when our support is needed.

We recognize the wonderful representation of our brothers in the past: Positive Ihiabe, Tom Zakari, Benjamin kani Okolo. Ihiabe was caring, Tom was nice, Okolo was loving and Baiwa is good but we call on them to speak for us this time. We also call on the incumbent Hassan Baiwa Abdulhahi to make away and shift power to Bassa local government area after his tenure. With due respect, we are not forcing you, we are begging! We also have good number of people who can do better for this position from across either Bassa-Kwomu, BassaNge and Egbura Mozum.

To our leaders’ of Bassa local government area, we should be wise this time around. The traditional rulers should henceforth fold his arms away from Dekina/Bassa choice of candidate and allow the politicians play the dice.

We can make it work now. Right now, if we choose to.
And why wouldn’t we?
