Emerging facts at the disposal of Investigation Media revealed how some agents of Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasiru El-rufai allegedly dished out huge sum of money running in to about N100 million to ensure the successful impeachment of Speaker Kaduna State House of Assembly Honorable Yusuf Zailani.
Zailani’s sins according to his close associates, was a meeting he allegedly called recently in which he was quoted as saying if the Local Government, Legislature and Executive financial autonomy bill signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari is to stand, he Zailani as Speaker of Kaduna State House of Assembly will use his position to deal with Kaduna State Governor and sabotage any plan by El-Rufai to plant the next Governor of Kaduna State and also contest for the presidency.
Newsroom Nigeria was reliably told that among those who attended the meeting called by the Speaker were stooges of the Governor and they promptly recorded the entire proceedings which they later took to the Governor and played it before him.
Angered by this development, Governor El-rufai who has a very strong desire to contest for the presidency in 2023 and also anoint either his Chief of Staff or the Senator representing Kaduna Central, Senator Uba Sani as next Governor of Kaduna State, swiftly, sources quickly mobilised his foot soldiers in the House to finance the immediate impeachment of the Speaker whom El-rufai always referred to as stark illiterate.
The Governor, sources also alleged, had a meeting with PDP members in the house and promise them five million naira each if they participated in facilitating the impeachment of the speaker, but this backfired as the members were said to have briefed the embattled speaker who promptly made available the sum of five million naira to them each.
And on the impeachment day, majority of the members passed a vote of confident on the speaker Honourable Yusuf Zailani and impeached the Deputy Speaker who the Governor designated to be elected as speaker if Zailani was removed.
All attempts also by some disgruntle members of the house to steal the house mace so that the Deputy Speaker may not be impeached did not succeed as the Sergeant-at-arm knocked down one Honourable member who wanted to run away with the House mace.
Investigation Media can also report that, PDP members in the house had also briefed former Kaduna State Governor Ahmed Makarfi of El-rufai’s plan to remove the Speaker. Makarfi was said to have reached out to APC leader Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is not on good terms with El-rufai because both of them are interested in 2023 presidency. Tinubu, sources said, quickly reached out to some APC members of Kaduna State House of Assembly and promised them huge sum of money to abandon El-rufai’s plan.
Meanwhile, some other sources in Kduna hinted that the Senator representing Kaduna Central. Senator Uba Sani has vowed to do all within his reach to remove Speaker Yusuf Zailani who is a threat to Uba Sani’s Governorship ambition in 2023.
