It was exactly 67 days ago that it was announced that the mother of the Chief of Staff to governor Yahaya Bello was kidnapped in Nagazi.
I want to assume that Asuku is doing all he can, to ensure that the woman come back safely. I also want to assume that the vile men have contacted the family and that discussions are on that will lead to the release of the woman.
Like I stated, I am only assuming as the public is yet to be briefed about any development.
And I am writing this post for three reasons. One, I am worried. I have a loving mother at home. Very precious to me and I can’t imagine her spending a day in a den of kidnappers. So, I write this to empathize with the Chief of Staff to the governor of Kogi State.
And secondly to inform him of the rumor making rounds regarding his mother’s disappearance, in case he is not aware.
These rumors are not just limited to Beer Parlors, it is in market places, in offices, News Stands and in every homes.
The first rumor has it that it may be members of the families of those who were murdered by the APC sponsored thugs during senatorial and governorship elections that were responsible for the kidnap of your mother.
These rumor “mongers” were of the opinion that the PDP woman leader who was razed down with her house in the Eastern part of our State was someone’s mother, that Ojo Enesi that was gruesomely murdered was someone’s son. That boy that was killed by APC thugs in Kabba was someone’s son.
They said you cannot fan the ember of violence during election and thereafter seek to enjoy the luxury of peace that comes with the victory.
They said you are being made to taste your own medicine. Chief, you are a pharmacist, whatever that means, you should know.
And there are also people pointing accusing fingers to prominent members of your party in the State. Those men whose interest may have been threaten by your governorship aspiration.
They said some of these men had once been caught in the webs of assault, battery, rape, and murder. Plus your State Party Chairman’s shameless campaign to kill all opposition members in Kogi Central.
They said these are more than enough evidences that there are rapists, murderers and kidnappers lurking around the corridors of power in Kogi State. These groups of people should be the first suspects. They opined.
Another set believe that those thugs who were used during election and later dumped after election were responsible for the kidnap.
There were video evidences of them with guns and women cheering them on with their tatatatata lyrics. These boys need to survive before the next election so they visited. They said it was a classical case of chicken coming home to roost.
Some said the kidnap was to spite your government whose only point of pride is security even when there is nothing like security in the state. Some even believe they went for Chief of Staff Mom because the governor’s mom is no more. They would have gone for her just to expose the lie of this government.
They said the kidnap was a statement. “You claim to have done excellently well in security”? Kidnap in your house. Deal with it. And that is terrible.
Now to the crux of the matter, the most rumbling rumor is that you have used your mother to nurture and facilitate your governorship ambition. As much as I do not want to believe that this is true, the onus is on you to prove innocence.
And that brings me to the final part of this piece. I want you to do whatever you have to do to ensure the safe release of your mother. Knock every necessary door, empty your vault if necessary, perish your governorship ambition if that will help. Turn the searchlight on the rapists, murderers and the kidnappers in your party.
And most importantly, I want you to be more circumspect in your future dealings with your fellow human. Whatever goes around comes around.
Good governance is for the benefit of all.
Next year is another election, the hyenas are ready and the schemers are at it again. Chief, do not beat the old drum. Tell your women not to sing the old songs.
May your mother return safely.
