The Battle for Lugard House: Achimugu Abubakar, A United Force In The APC.

The struggle for who succeeds Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State is taking a new twist. While some political commentators are insisting that it is time for a power shift to Kogi West, others are saying the Central should complete 16 years before it moves to other Senatorial districts of the State.

The source within Lugard house said Bello may likely favour the United candidate that can unite all the power blocks within the ruling APC  among the names that come from the East is Abubakar Yahaya Achimugu who had over the years gathered series of experiences in both private and public sectors, though Achimugu the first timer, is from Kogi East, Abubakar maturity at any little opportunity, who have  an attitude of someone that is capable to govern the State, the party source said.

Abubakar Yahaya Achimugu, a Banking and Financial Technology Expert with proven records of excellence of almost three decades in financial services, financial technology and the public sector business.

With roles in executive management as Banking Group Head, Regional Director, Project Co-ordinator and Bank CEO exhibiting outstanding record of high performance, confidentiality and financial prudence in risk management, financial management, treasury services and investment, strategic planning, business development, negotiation and change management.

He has held the following positions across industries as Directorate Head, Business Operations – FCT/North: eTranzact Plc, General Manager, Business Development and Investment-Federal Airport Authority Nigeria (FAAN), Special Adviser (SA), Strategy and Investment: Federal Ministry of Aviation, Head, Strategy & Funding-Nigeria Vision 20:20 Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Union Bank Cameroun (UBC), Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Oceanic Bank (Now Energy Bank) Sao Tome and Principe.

He has a B.Sc. Sociology from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and an MBA (Marketing) from the Delta State University.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Business Development, Fellow, Institute of Credit Administrators of Nigeria, Fellow, National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria and a Professional/Associate of the Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM).

He has attended several executive courses in Information Systems and Applications, Risk Management, Business Development, Strategy and Investments, Management and Leadership at home in Nigeria and abroad.
