Terrorist Attack in Niger State: 4 Killed, Including 2 DSS Officers; Military Repels Assault, Neutralizes 20 Bandits

A terrorist attack on the Bassa community in Shiroro Local Government Area, Niger State, resulted in the deaths of at least 4 people, including 2 Department of State Services (DSS) personnel. The attack, which occurred on Wednesday morning, also left 2 residents critically injured.

However, the Nigerian military intervened, overpowering the bandits and eliminating at least 20 of their members. According to counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the attackers, numbering over 100, were met with fierce resistance from the DSS personnel, and the Nigerian Air Force responded with airstrikes, inflicting heavy casualties on the bandits.

As of the latest update, the bodies of at least 28 bandits have been recovered, with many more scattered across the area. Several weapons and motorcycles used by the bandits have also been recovered by security forces. The Niger State Police Spokesman, Wasiu Abiodun, is yet to provide an official update on the incident.
