Tension in Adamawa As INEC Stops Declaration of Gov’ship Result

Pandemonium reigned supreme in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State as thugs took to the srreets over the postponement of declaration of the governorship results by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Trouble began at the collation centre Yola when the Returning Officer in charge of the state’s governorship election, Professor Mohammed Mele, announced that the declaration of results had been shifted to Monday.

When the news of the postponement filtered into the capital city (Yola), thugs in their hundreds reportedly took over strategic locations in the city to attack innocent citizens and passers-by, motorists and others.

The Adamawa governorship election is keenly contested by two top contenders, the incumbent governor who is seeking re-election, Ahmadu Fintiri, candidate of the PDP and Aisha Dahiru (fondly called Binani) of the APC
