Director-General of National Boundary Commission, Mr Adamu Adaji, appeals to traditional institutions across the country to cooperate in boundary-related disputes to enhance peaceful coexistence among border communities within their domains
Says some of the Traditional rulers are not being sincere and being sincere in accepting the boundaries as defined by the Federal government, though agreed that some of them have been quiet cooperative and appealed for more cooperation for to enable the agency resolves some of the boundary dispute.
Adamu while appealing to the traditional rulers that the boundary must not be in tandem with their various traditional believes.
Speaking on Benue, Taraba boundaries crisis,he said the commission has intervened as far back as 1994, under the leadership of Gen. Adisa Abdulkarem who was then the minister of works, said the agreement was reached but unfortunately along the line, some communities in Benue state where not agreed with some of the decision.
He called on states with boundary issues to unite and resolve some of the boundary issues to douse tension and create harmonious relationship and confident building,so as to step down the issues related to boundary disputes.
He also said currently the commission have about 86 boundary issues but the commision is able to resolve about 30 of them.
