A former governor of Gombe State and the senator representing Gombe North, Ibrahim Dankwambo, has asked the state government to suspend the payment of his monthly pensions.
Dankwambo in a letter he addressed to Governor Inuwa Yahaya on October 4, a copy which was obtained by LEADERSHIP yesterday, said his monthly pension paid by the state government was approved under the 2007 Executive Pension Act.
He said the government pays him the sum of N694,557 as pension every month, adding that after consultation with civil society organisations, integrity institutions, friends and associates, he decided to stop it and to make a refund.
“I therefore write to request for the suspension of my monthly pension/allowance of N694,557.82 being paid to me as former governor of Gombe State.
“Also note that since I left office in 2019, I have never benefitted from any welfare packages be it medical, furniture, transportation etc,” the letter reads in part.
