The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a suspected IPOB’s Eastern Security Network top commander, Mr. Udebuani Sage Chibueze, over alleged killings of naval and police personnel in the state. According to a police situation report sighted by our reporter, Chibueze was ar-rested on Saturday at 2:55am.
The suspect during his arrest was said to have been nursing gunshot injuries. Police reports said he was tracked and arrested.
The Sitrep also stated that the suspect has led several armed attacks against police and navy personnel at Awkuzu and Neni. Also, the report stated that after the suspect’s house was searched, a cache of arms and ammunition were recovered.
Furthermore, it alleged that the suspect was behind the latest at- on Ajalli Police Station. It continued: “The suspect was behind the attack on Ajalli Police Station, where policemen were killed.
The suspect was arrested with gunshot injuries and after his premises in Ekwulobia and Nnewi were searched, the following items were recovered; four AK-47 rifles, two Automatic Pump Action Guns, 22 rounds of 7.62mm, .39 live ammunition, 28 rounds of live cartridges, two AK-47 magazines, seven pairs of military uniforms, two pairs of Civil Defence uniforms, a pair of boots, a police ID card belonging to late Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Iyamba Oden, one ASP badge of rank, one Senior Police Officer (IPO) crest, one inspector badge of rank, one Toyota Sequoia SUV, one Toyota sienna space wagon bus and one Toyota spider van with which his gang was carrying out attacks on citizens and security forces.
“Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to be a member of outlawed IPOB/ ESN and participated actively in the murder of naval officers at Awkuzu Junction and police officers at Okacha Neni. Investigation is ongoing and efforts are on top gear to arrest other fighters of the outlawed group.”
