In his Sallah message, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Abubakar, called on leaders to intensify efforts to address the economic and security challenges facing Nigeria. Speaking at his palace in Sokoto, the Sultan emphasized the need for urgent solutions to enable citizens to access their farms and end hunger in the country.
The Sultan’s message came during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, which was marked with prayers led by the Chief Imam of the Sultan Bello mosque, Imam Malamin Akwara, at the Sokoto central Eid ground. The event was attended by top government officials, including the Sokoto State Deputy Governor.
In addition to his call to leaders, the Sultan also urged well-to-do individuals to assist the less privileged members of society.
In a related development, residents of Gwiwa Eka, a suburb of Sokoto metropolis, expressed their gratitude to Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for donating a cow for the Salah celebration. A resident, Adamu Abdulrahaman, spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, saying, “Many of us couldn’t afford the high cost of rams in the market. We are grateful to Peter Obi for his kindness and urge other well-to-do personalities to emulate his good gesture.”
