Stop reporting your husbands to us, UK police tell Nigerian women

by

Nigerian wives in the United Kingdom have been advised to stop reporting their husbands to the police for them to be sent out of their homes.

This advice was given by a UK police chief who incidentally is a Nigerian. He gave the advice as a guest in a programme organized by the Divine Restoration International Church in the UK.

The police chief, who was accompanied to the programme by other police officers spoke about the trend of wives of Nigerian descent reporting their husbands to the police so that the men can be sent out of their homes and barred from returning.

The police chief said many women are doing this because of the availability of welfare benefits for the children provided by the UK government, an arrangement that is not available in their home country, Nigeria.

He remarked that a man still has uses in a home, outside of providing money for the upkeep of the home or the training the children.

He said the presence of a man in the home helps to instil discipline in the children.
