SSS arrests Facebook user for trolling feminist Zainab Nasir over Malala’s marriage

The State Security Service, SSS, in Kano has arrested a Facebook user, Ibrahim Sarki Abdullahi, for trolling an activist and women rights campaigner, Zainab Nasir, for her stand on marriage.

A source at the Kano command of the service confirmed the arrest of Mr Abdullahi to DAILY NIGERIAN, saying he was being quizzed for “trolling innocent people”.

Ms Nasir had previously expressed views that “marriage is not an achievement”, and sparked online rows for promoting feminism.
On the day Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Malala Yousafzai, announced her marriage, many had people alluded to Ms Nasir’s standpoint on marriage.
In his post, Mr Abdullahi shared Ms Nasir’s picture with a derisive title “Malala ta shushe mu”, roughly meaning “Malala had disappointed us”.
Mr Abdullahi later deleted the post after Ms Nasir threatened legal action against him.

She wrote on November 11: “I’m writing this to let Ibrahim Sarki Abdullahi know that I’m on the process of taking a legal action against him and refunds for the damages caused by his behavior through using my picture and turning it into subject of ridicule in public. I spoke to my family and close friends and I accept the kind advices by them to take an action legally to protect myself and preserve my dignity.”
