Workers on the payroll of Kogi State Social Investment Programme have disclosed they have not been paid for over five months.
Some of the workers spoken to by this newspaper say the last time they received salary from the state government was sometimes September and October last year.
While some could not remember the month they were paid last. They confirmed salaries have not been paid for some moths now.
They have since appealed to Mr. Yahaya Bello, the state governor to pay them their salaries.
Mr. Danjuma Uja who spoke to WEST AFRICA REPORTERS (WAR) in a telephone from Idah, kogi state say it is unbelievable that workers who are helping to implement poverty intervention programmes are owed salaries for months.
Asked if he knows when they will be paid, he said nobody in Kogi state knows when salaries will be paid, describing salaries payment in the state as miracle that comes when God divinity touches the state Governor.
“Never in the history of Kogi state were workers subjected to under this predicament,” he told WAR.
Mrs. Kate who preferred only her first name to be mentioned told WAR, she cannot remember the last time she was paid full salary and entitlement by the by the Kogi state government.
WAR could not immediately reach Kogi state government for official response.
