Former federal lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has criticized lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) for their lack of visibility and impact in the National Assembly. In a recent social media post, Sani expressed disappointment that the opposition lawmakers have not been effective in representing the interests of their constituents and the masses.
According to Sani, only lawmakers from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are visible and active in the National Assembly, while the opposition lawmakers are seemingly absent or inactive. He stated, “Ruling party lawmakers are visible in the National Assembly. Opposition lawmakers are invisible in the National Assembly.”
Sani’s criticism highlights the importance of a robust and effective opposition in a democratic system, which is essential for checks and balances, accountability, and good governance. The passive nature of opposition lawmakers undermines the democratic process and the interests of citizens who elected them to represent their voices.
