Lawmaker representing Kogi Central senatorial district, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, and other members of the sixth legislature of ECOWAS parliament on Friday attended the first sitting in Abuja.
Senator Natasha and 34 others representing Nigeria at the ECOWAS parliament alongside other parliamentarians from ECOWAS countries were inaugurated on Thursday into the sixth legislature of the ECOWAS parliament for a single tenure of four years.
The first sitting on Friday held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, was to set up committee on selection and the establishment of the adhoc committee on drafting the rules of procedure.
The heads of delegation from each member state that make up the community were selected to form the committee on selection.
The adhoc committee on drafting the rules of procedure was also set, they were mandated to submit their report on Saturday.
The Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin who also doubles as the acting speaker of the sixth legislature of the ECOWAS parliament, explained that it’s part of the tradition of the parliament to select heads of delegation from each member state as members of the selection committee.
