Senator Karimi Initiates Construction of Army Barracks in Kogi State Border Town

In a groundbreaking event witnessed by community leaders and dignitaries, Hon Karimi Sunday representing Kogi West, spearheaded the foundation stone-laying ceremony for an upcoming army barracks in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government, Kogi State. This significant project, attended by the Elegbe of Egbe, Oba Ayodele Irukera, marks a milestone in fortifying security in the region.

The proposed mini-military base aims to house essential facilities, including an office, officers’ quarters, residential blocks for personnel, and an armory upon completion. The initiative stemmed from a collaborative effort between the Egbe community, led by His Royal Highness, Oba Victor Timi Dada, and the Army authorities, with the condition that the community provides suitable land for the barracks.

Senator Karimi pledged full financial support for the project, emphasizing its critical role in addressing the escalating security challenges across the country. Highlighting the diverse security threats faced by Nigeria, he underscored the need for a secure environment to foster economic growth and social stability.

Karimi’s commitment to funding the barracks stems from his dedication to the welfare of his constituents and his unwavering support for bolstering national security measures. He expressed optimism that the military presence would not only enhance security in the host community but also encourage financial institutions, previously deterred by security concerns, to resume operations in the area.

Elegbe of Egbe, Oba Irukera, praised Senator Karimi’s consistent efforts in advancing community development, citing his unparalleled contributions to the construction of the modern Egbe Central Palace as a testament to his commitment.

The groundbreaking ceremony, attended by a spectrum of community members, religious leaders, and youth and women groups, signifies a collaborative stride towards fortifying security and fostering growth in Kogi State’s border region.
