Senator Ireti Kingibe Demands Apology from FCT Minister Nyesom Wike

A long-standing feud between Senator Ireti Kingibe and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has taken a new turn, with Kingibe demanding an apology from Wike for his offensive comments. The senator expressed her willingness to work with Wike if he apologizes for threatening to unseat her as an FCT senator in 2027.

The tension between the two politicians began when Wike questioned Kingibe’s accomplishments for her constituents, prompting her to take offense. Kingibe, who is older than Wike, emphasized that courtesy demands respect, especially given their age difference.

Wike had previously threatened Kingibe, saying she would not be reelected in 2027, citing her lack of achievements since taking office. However, Kingibe remains adamant that Wike must apologize for his remarks before they can work together.

The face-off between Wike and Kingibe has been ongoing since Kingibe’s election as senator, with both politicians trading accusations. Kingibe has accused Wike of sidelining her and not having the interest of FCT residents at heart, while Wike claimed Kingibe’s attacks were motivated by her failure to secure a chairperson position on the Senate Committee on the FCT.
