A long-time supporter of Senator Dino Melaye, Otunba Kingsley Mokikan, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Mokikan, accompanied by over 200 supporters, joined the APC on Friday in a ceremony held at Aiyetoro Kiri Ward, Kabba-Bunu local government area.
The Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Dr. Folashade Ayoade, and other top government officials from Bunu District welcomed the defectors. Dr. Ayoade praised Mokikan’s decision, stating that it marks a significant step towards developing the state together. She assured the defectors that they will not regret their decision and urged the ward and local government executives to receive them warmly.
Dr. Ayoade emphasized that the doors of the APC are open to anyone willing to contribute to the party’s progress and the development of Kogi state. She also acknowledged the contributions of appointees from Bunu land who have served under former Governor Yahaya Bello and current Governor Usman Ododo, praising their efforts in delivering democracy dividends to the people of Okun.
The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of APC, Hon. Duro Meseko, hailed Otunba Mokikan as a grassroots mobilizer and expressed delight at his defection to the party. He commended appointees from Bunu land for making the district proud and expressed satisfaction with their performance.
Otunba Kingsley Mokikan stated that his decision to join the APC was driven by his desire to unite the party and enhance its performance. He pledged to work towards improving the party’s fortunes in the community, Kabba-Bunu, Kogi state, and Nigeria at large.
