Senate Stalls Progress on Tax Bill, Plans Negotiation Meeting to Address Disagreements

The Senate Committee on Finance has put a hold on further deliberations on the proposed tax bill pending a meeting with the Attorney General of the Federation. Deputy Senate President, Sen. BARAU Jibrin, announced the development during today’s plenary session, revealing that a special committee has been formed to address contentious issues within the bill.

The meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, December 5th, to discuss key provisions that have sparked debates among stakeholders. Additionally, a special meeting chaired by the Minority Leader will be convened at the National Assembly to harmonize lawmakers’ positions and address national priorities while considering stakeholder concerns.

The special committee members include Abba Moro, Tahir Monguno, Aliero Adamu, Kalu Orji, Dickson Seriake, Zam Titus, Yahaya Abdullahi, Adeola Solomon, Sani Musa, Abiru Mukhail, and the entire Senate leadership.
