NARSDA: Senate Confirms Buhari nominee,Dr. Halilu Ahmad Shaba as DG NASRDA.

 

The Senate on Monday confirm Mr. Halilu Ahmad Shaba as Director-General of the National Space Research and Development Agency after rigorous screening by the Senate Committee on Science and Technology.

OBSERVERS TIMES recall that Buhari earlier forwarded his nominee for confirmation to Senate in a letter dated 25th February 2021 and read during plenary by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.

The letter reads in part: “Pursuant to Sections 14(1) and (2) of the National Space Research & Development Agency Act, 2010, I present for confirmation by the Senate the appointment of Mr. Halilu Ahmad Shaba as Director-General of the National Space Research & Development Agency”.

Dr Halilu was until his nomination, the acting Director General of the agency after being the Director in charge of Strategic Space Applications in the same organisation from 2009 to 2019.

He has participated in workshops and conferences on Global Climate Change, Environmental Pollution and Food Security; Future Earth Observation Satellite Programmes and Geospatial Information Management; and Geospatial Technologies for Economic Diversification among others.

He previously worked at the National Population Commission, Federal University of Technology, Minna and the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA.
