Security beefed up at Kano Assembly as lawmakers begin move to create additional emirates

by

There was palpable tension in Kano State Assembly complex on Tuesday as heavily armed security personnel comprising of Police and Civil Defence Corps.
It was gathered that the development might not be unconnected with today’s plenary where the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs is expected to submit its report on the amendment of Emirate Council Law 1984.

Our correspondent observed that the security agents, stationed at various junctions leading to the Assembly complex, barricaded all the complex’s entry and exit gates.

Similarly, vehicular movement is restricted around the assembly complex as the security agents conduct thorough checks on vehicles and only screened persons are being allowed to enter into the building.
Details later.
