Sam Anyanwu must be suspended from being a member of the Party and discipline accordingly- Chief Okoro Pascal

A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Chief Okoro Pascal, writes a very strong worded petition against former National Secretary, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, to Chief Tom Ikimi, Chairman National Disciplinary Committee (NDC) of the Peoples Democratic Party; Senator Adolphus Wabara, Acting Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees; and to the All PDP Governors Forum.

In the letter dated 16th of January 2024, Chief Okoro Pascal highlighted acts by Senator Samuel Anyanwu that constitutes serious breach of the PDP Constitution.

Parts of the letter reads: “Not satisfy with the use of cronies, Senator Samuel Anyanwu few weeks ago in his desperation and apparent forum shopping for convenient venue to get a favourable judgment, travelled to Lagos and PERSONALLY INSTITUTED A CASE AGAINST THE PARTY AT THE FEDERAL HIGH COURT, LAGOS IN SUIT NO. FHC/L/CS/2357/23- SENATOR SAMUEL NNAEMEKA ANYANWU vs PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY FILED ON THE 17TH NOVEMBER, 2023. FIND ATTACHED COPY OF THE ORIGINATING SUMMONS.

Section 58(1) of the Party’s Constitution (as amended in 2017) expressly prohibits any member of the Party from resorting to litigation against the Party on any matter
whatsoever without first exhausting the internal remedial mechanisms enshrined in the Constitution.

The Section makes it a punishable offence for any member to engage in such conduct against the Party. Senator Samuel Anyanwu is not just a member of the Party but a former National Secretary of the Party who was once a Chief Administrative Officer of the Party responsible for the day-to-day activities of the Party and the implementation of the Party’s Constitution and therefore expected to be at the forefront of compliance with the provisions of the Party’s Constitution.”

Chief Okoro Pascal also stated that, “In view of the foregoing, I hereby humbly urge you to use your good office to invoke the provisions of Sections 58 and 59 of the Party’s Constitution and activate the disciplinary machinery of the Party against Samuel Anyanwu by doing the following:

1. Suspending him from being a member of the Party,

2. Recommending him to National Disciplinary Committee for hearing and if found wanting, expelling him from the Party.”

Those copied to the letter are:

1. The Chairman, PDP Governors’ Forum, and all PDP Governors.

2. The Acting National Chairman and all National Working Committee Members of the PDP.

3. PDP National Assembly Caucus in both the Senate and House of Representatives.

4. The National Vice Chairman, South East, PDP.
