Russian Engineers Arrive in Kogi to Revive Ajaokuta Steel Plant

A team of 23 Russian engineers, the original builders of the Ajaokuta Steel Company, has arrived in Ajaokuta, Kogi State, to conduct a technical audit of the facility. The team will work alongside engineers from the company to identify areas for improvement and upgrade outdated equipment, replacing analog with digital technology to bring the facility up to modern standards.

This move is a crucial step towards completing the long-abandoned project and restoring the steel plant to its former glory. The team has already visited several units, including the thermal power plant, light mills section, and the oxygen plant.

The revival of the Ajaokuta Steel Company is a significant development in Nigeria’s efforts to boost its industrial sector and economy.
