The current member representing Ankpa/Olamaboro and Omala Federal Constituency in the green chamber is a household name, not only in the political developement of Ankpa local government area and by extension Igala kingdom and the entire Kogi state,but had a chunk of stint in both civil service and business adventure.
Born in Ankpa town and groomed in the local business of his late patriach,Pa Abdullahi mentored his children including the Federal Lawmaker in his indigenous livestock business, known in all the nooks and crannies of old Ankpa Local Government, that constitute the new Federal Constituency.
Aside the family trade in livestocks,Alhaji Ibrahim was a well lettered Islamic scholar,whose family heritage and upbringing was not only for his immediate family, extended family,but by extension a home saddled with the knowledge of Islamic schools in the entire old Ankpa community.
Higly dependent on his craft and family trade,Halims as he is popularly known,emanated after his long sojourn in the civil service,at the famous Nigerian Coal Corporation,Enugu, started from Okaba coal mine,under the Ministry of Mines and Steel developement for many years, before joining the business world and later Politics.
As at then,’Ibrahim Jah’ as he was popularly known,was an epitome of selfless service, a humanitatian and down to earth,after securing many jobs placement to many Igala sons and daughters, both at Okaba,Odagbo and Enugu end of the Ministry of Mines and Steel developement, as well as Abuja .
The popular Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi retired and join the business world with the acronym,HALIMS,having established so many business interests in Enugu,Benue, Kogi and other states of Nigeria, with interest in contracts and supplies,Oil and Gas business,opened up so many business location within and outside the state.
HALIMS used the opportunity to create employments for so many people, in addition to that of the civil service both in Enugu,Portharcourt,Makurdi,Lagos, Calabar,Suleija depots of NNPC as depots representatives and staffs respectively.
His decision to join politics was a product of an ardent support and plea from his immediate community and by extension his Constituency that attracted him into representing his people at the State House Assembly in Kogi state in 2011.
Honourable Halims was Chairman Board of Kogi State Water Board,and belong to so many board and agencies of government in the last dispensation.
His indigenous political prowess and large followership saw him gunning for a House of Representatives slot,lost in his first bid under PDP in 2015, and won under APC in 2019, underthe current dispensation.
The large followers of Rt Honourable Ibrahim was impressed by his perfomance at the State Assembly, that further attracted his attention to higher representation,which he uniquely defeated an incumbent Lawmaker,Muhammed Idris,but was denied victory into the Federal House of Representatives
Even though, another school of thought said he lost galantly in 2015, out of sheer political miscalculations by his political ally and paternal brother,who lately join the race to the Senate, and won,as the rest is history.
HALIMS who had general acceptability across the three Local Governments, that constituted the Federal Constituency, returned to the same position after four years through a landslide victory in the last general election in 2019.
One year after his ascension to the political leadership of Ankpa Federal Constituency,the people of the area have heave a sigh of relief,not only because of his popularity,but owing to the people oriented policies and programs, embarked upon by Rt Honourable Abdullahi Ibrahim Idris (HALIMS).
As you mark a new year and your birthday as the representative of the people of Ankpa Federal Constituency at the green chamber,we pray for more years of good and quality leadership you have deployed, to the betterment of the people of the area.
