Rivers State Turmoil: Ex-Deputy Speaker Okpara Criticizes Wike’s Ambitions to Dominate APC and PDP the Same Time

Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Austin Okpara, has criticized the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, for his attempts to exert control over the structures of both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today program on Sunday, Okpara, a prominent PDP chieftain, praised Governor Siminalayi Fubara for successfully conducting local government elections in the state, despite the withdrawal of both major parties.

“How can one man seek to control the structures of both the APC and the PDP in a single state?” Okpara questioned.

He further emphasized the positive shift in governance, stating, “We now have a governor who wants to serve the people, not one inspired by figures like Adolf Hitler or Donald Trump.”

Okpara hailed the recent local government elections as a clear indication that the people of Rivers State are weary of oppression and are ready for change.
