Rivers APC chairman, others dump party, switch to PDP

A former chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers, Chief Davies Ikanya and a former National Assembly member, Igo Aguma as well as their supporters will formally join the People Democratic Party (PDP) this weekend.

A statement by Rivers PDP spokesman, Tambari Sydney Gbara, said the duo would be received by Governor, Nyesom Wike in a ceremony in Port Harcourt on Saturday, May 22.

Gbara further disclosed that eight other key members of the opposition party would also be received into the ruling party at the event.

He said they include: Nnamdi Ogbogbo, Isobo Jack, Wisdom Wakama(a.k.a Wizzy Waks) and Alpine Whyte.

Others are Ilamabo Mirilla, Franklin Faaye, Alamese Martins-Yellow and Paul Nwankwoala.

The statement reads: “The State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Rivers State Chapter Amb. Desmond Akawor on behalf of the Party, joyfully welcomes the Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency Nyesom Ezenwo Wike CON ,GSSRS, POS (Africa) his members of Cabinet, Party Leaders, Stakeholders and supporters to the formal returning to our Party the following persons;

“Dr Ikanya Davies ( Former State Chairman, APC), Rt. Hon. Igo Aguma (former National Assembly Member and former Ag.Chairman APC), Chief Ogbogbo Nnamdi (Former APC LGA Leader), Hon. Isobo Jack (Former Caretaker Chairman, APC) and Chief Hon.Wisdom Wakama (Wizzy Waks) (Former Minority Leader in the State Assembly).

“Others are, Hon.Alpine Whyte (Former Deputy Mayor Phalga LGA), Hon. Alamese Martins-Yellow, Hon. Ilamabo Mirilla, Hon. Faaye Franklin and Barr. Paul Nwankwoala (former APC Legal Adviser).”

Dr. Ikanya was pioneer chairman of the APC in the state.

He led the party between 2013 and 2018.

Rivers APC has however has been bedeviled by unresolved internal crisis that prevented the party from participating in the 2019 general elections.
