Events that led to the woeful performance of the PDP as the ruling party in Bayelsa since the return of democratic practice in the last two decades,have dealt an irrevocable and irrevocable blow to the party, both at the state and Federal level.
But recent revelations has left nobody in doubt including topnotchers of the party, particularly the roles of ex President Goodluck Jonathan ,his family and the political empire .
Former President Jonathan persistent visit to the Presidential Villa to see Mr President towards the election ,has finally unveiled how a deal was consummated to trade off Bayelsa state, at the mercy of personal interests of the former President.
No doubt,build up to the election,the incumbent Governor,Seriake Dickson cried out over plans to hijack the electoral process of the state ,to pacify the interest of some highly placed elements ,who desire safe landing from the present administration of Mohammed Buhari.
President Jonathan and the family have not known peace five years after leaving office, as the properties and funds belonging to his wife,Patience Jonathan were been trapped in the bank through froze and seizure by anti graft agencies and the courts .
It is also not hidden that the close confidant and top government and cabinet member of Jonathan’s administration and former Minister of Petroleum Resources,Deziani Alisson Madueke has been a guest to anti graft agencies both at home and abroad through her legal team,over questionable financial transactions while in the office at home and abroad,THE OBSERVERS TIMES learnt
There was a revelations of how billions of dollars in assets and cash were discovered from the former minster, with some of it confiscated,while others are subject litigation against the former Minister.
This is also similar to several aides of the former President antecedents during his six years term as Nigerian leader,which the Buhari led administration had beam it’s search light ,giving sleepless night to the former Nigerian leader.
To worsen the whole situation,it was reported both in the conventional and indigenous media the recalcitrant attitude of the Dickson led administration in Bayelsa.
This is at the backdrop of series of agreement brokered by the former leader and his wife,before Seriake Dickson was brought on board 8 years ago,which the governor obviously reneged, particularly as it borders on his successor.
It was agreed that the popular PDP member and household name ,Timi Alaibe denied 8 years ago,should come on board,only for Dickson to go the other way round, to bring an unpopular candidate .
Crises of the 2015 loss of leadership as a result of the election also rear it’s head in the unfortunate loss of Bayelsa by the PDP, as former President still nurture some pains,on the internal betrayal mechanism put in place by some top PDP members,flying ethnic kites that brought down his administration.
It was also revealed that the ghost of Malabu oil transaction that had led to the continuous exit of the former attorney general and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke,was also part of the need and desire to let go Bayelsa state to the APC Lords .
Former President Jonathan,allies and family are deep necked into the scandal that boarders on Malabu oil deal in his administration,along with several other sharp practices.
In all, PDP as a party became the victim of the power play,bitter rivalry between the former President and his adopted political son,Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa,costing the party one of the most cherished oil producing state to the APC,at the altar of personal and political disagreement .
Rumours of all this Political developement in Bayelsa became curious and obvious soon after the declaration of the APC David Lyon,the campaign team which include state governors including the governor elect,visited to thank the former President for redeeming his promise to deliver Bayelsa to the APC in resentment of the actions of the PDP NWC.
