RCCG Church Takes Action Against Pastor and Deacon Over Allegations of Homosexuality Practices

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has suspended Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello and Deacon Oke Mayowa amid allegations of homosexual conduct involving young members of the church. An internal memo, dated October 28, 2024, outlines the church’s commitment to investigating the allegations thoroughly within two weeks, emphasizing that such behavior is against the church’s doctrine and biblical teachings.

The church’s National Overseer, Pastor Sunday Akande, signed the memo, which stresses the importance of handling the situation with care and integrity. The memo references specific biblical passages that condemn homosexuality, reinforcing the church’s stance on the issue.

In a separate letter dated October 25, the church formally notified Pastor AdeBello of his immediate suspension from all responsibilities, citing the severity of the allegations, which include inappropriate conduct with teenage boys. The letter highlights the church’s commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals and ensuring accountability within its ranks.

The church has mandated that all involved parties cooperate with the investigation, which will be conducted confidentially and impartially. If the allegations are substantiated, it could lead to indefinite removal from church positions. The church has also advised AdeBello to step down from any other roles he may hold, both within and outside the church, to maintain the integrity of the investigation.
