With great determination, the members of the Kogi East Economic Summit staged a protest on the main roads of Anyigba in strong opposition to Mr. Ajanaku’s characterization of Anyigba as a FARM GATE, accompanied by songs of solidarity.
The protesters held up PLACARDS with various inscriptions, including:
* Anyigba is not a FARM GATE
* Ajanaku should refrain from interfering in our internal affairs
* Ajanaku should apologize to the people of Kogi East and Kogi State in general
* We are committed to the federal government’s value chain policy
* In the 2024 cashew season, we seek peace and a good business relationship
* Ajanaku cannot dictate terms to us; his tenure as NCAN President ended on November 30th, 2022, as stated in the consent judgment.
* Anyigba is the commercial hub of Kogi State, among other things.
Due to a lack of geographical understanding, it is important to note that a significant portion of the state’s total production for export, over 65%, is generated within the State, with Anyigba serving as the central location where these crops are processed to meet export standards before being transported further. Why should a unique place like Anyigba be denied the right to host investors based on its productive capabilities?
A large-scale protest was staged against Mr. Ajanaku for his statement referring to Anyigba as a farm gate for foreign investors. The protest was conducted peacefully and in accordance with the law.
The Federal Government has not designated any specific location as a farm gate or instructed investors to vacate areas where they have invested billions of naira, let alone targeting Anyigba.
