Prof. Armstrong Idachaba,measures up the digital standard expected of a regulator, NBC mandated Pay-TV Operators to licensed all channels on their Bouquet.

The Ag. Director General, Prof. Armstrong Idachaba and Management of the Commission, in a  a meeting with Pay-TV Operators at the Commission’s headquaters in Abuja.

NBC under the leadership Prof Armstrong Idachaba gearing toward achieving  the goal of enthronement and sustenance of a laudable broadcasting industry deem the  meeting very necessary aiming at reviewing their Operations Viz a viz unwholesome content, unlicensed Channels and statutory levies.

The PayTV Opperators were thereafter given till June 30, 2020, to ensure that all channels on their Bouquet are licenced by the NBC and to ensure that Content on their channels are suitable for specific timebelt.

They were also enjoined to encrypt where necessary, OBSERVERS TIMES earlier reported that one of the major agendas of ministry of information and culture through NBC is the transition from analogue to digital broadcasting. It is a major international commitment that the  country is undertaking, in consonance with the directives of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) which has been carried out the Digital Switch over (DSO), in six locations around the country.
