Welcome to a new Legislative Day in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria!

Senate President, Dr. Ahmad Lawan, CON, Ph.D, led the Principal Officers into the Chambers, took the official prayers and began the day’s proceedings at 10:58am.

VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS
Senator Hassan moved for the adoption of Votes and Proceedings for Monday, 21st December, 2020.
The motion was seconded by Senator Christopher Ekpenyong.

LETTER FROM MR. PRESIDENT
Senate President, Dr. Ahmad Lawan, CON, Ph.D, read a letter from President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, on:

1. Request for Confirmation of the Nomination for Appointment as Auditor General of the Federation;
2. Request for Confirmation of the Nomination for Appointment as Chairman of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission;
3. Request for Confirmation of Chief of Defense Staff and Service Chiefs for the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria;
4. Request for Confirmation of Appointment of Commissioner of the Nigeria Law Reform Commission;
5. Request for Confirmation of Appointment of Commissioner of the Federal Civil Service Commission; and
6. Request for Confirmation of Appointment of Non-Career Ambassadors (Designate)

Senate Leader rose to announce the demise of Hon. Ossy Chinedu Prestige, who represented Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

“It is our culture in the Senate and National Assembly in general that when this kind of thing happens either in Senate or House of Representatives, we observe a minute silence and adjourn plenary in honour of our late brother and friend. May his soul Rest In Peace.” – Senate Leader

Minority Leader seconded.

Senate observed a minute silence in honor of the deceased Honorouble member.
