The people of Yagba West local government area of Kogi State on Tuesday shut their door against Governor Yahaya Bello who was in Ejiba to inspect the rice mill factory.
Apart from government appointees in Yagba federal constituency, the advance team of the governor and few school children who were in Ejiba to receive him, the villagers were said to have boycotted the event. The visit of the governor which was supposed to be a political gathering turned out to be a quiet event as the expected locals failed to turn up.
The people are said to be angry with the governor because of his refusal to pay workers salaries and pension. They also accused the governor of deducting the local government fund to finance what they called fictitious loan the governor claimed to have used in building the omi rice mill.
Part of the reasons that was also cited for the poor turnout of the locals was because the Deputy Governorship candidate of the PDP Honourable Sam Aro is also from the local government and the people has thrown their weight behind him for the November 16th Governorship election.
The viciously angry Governor was said to have abruptly ended his visit and returned to Lokoja with appointees of the governor trading blames for the poor turnout of the event.
