Police arrests man who promises women marriage on social media then steals from their families

Police in Katsina state have arrested one 31-year-old Abdullahi Umar who goes after desperate women with deceit of marriage on social media. When invited to meet the Lady’s family for discussions, he will steal from them and abscond.

He was arrested in Kaduna state after a victim of Katsina whom he met on Facebook invited him to her father’s house to discuss marriage. After he was given a place to sleep, at midnight he stole their laptops, phones, clothes, shoes and N100k.

Katsina State police spokesperson, Gambo Isah, told BBC that they don’t know the actual number of victims but they expect more women to come forward with complaints.
