Police arrest 5 suspects for not allowing the dead to rest in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested five suspected ritualists who specialized in exhuming dead bodies for ritual purposes.

The suspects who the police said were not allowing the dead to rest were arrested on Saturday 11th of March 2023.

The police said the suspects were members members of a ritualist gang who have been exhuming corpses from their graves and removing parts of their bodies for ritual purpose.

According to Ogun State Police Publlic Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Abimbola Oyeyemi,”the suspects: Oshole Fayemi, 60, Osemi Adesanya, 39, Ismaila Seidu, 30, Oseni Oluwasegun, 69, and Lawal Olaiya, 50, were arrested, following information received by the Police at Odogbolu Divisional Headquarters, that the gang who are responsible for series of corpse exhumation within Ososa community were planning to visit somewhere within the town to carry out another round of human parts harvest.

Upon the information, DPO Odogbolu division, CSP Godwin Idehai, mobilized his men and stormed the suspects’ hideout ,where five of them were apprehended.

“On interrogation, the suspects made confessional statements that they were actually into the business of exhuming corpses from their graves, and that they used to sell parts of such corpse to their standby buyers, who needed them for money making rituals”.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police,Mr. Frank Mba, has directed that the suspects be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Departments(SCID) for discreet investigation and possible prosecution.
