The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Tinubu to address the nation and announce major policy reviews amidst nationwide protests. The party attributes the protests to the federal government’s anti-people policies, which have made life unbearable for Nigerians.
PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, stated that the party had previously offered advice to the APC government on the state of the economy, but it was ignored. He criticized the APC for allegedly recruiting hoodlums to instigate violence and clamp down on innocent Nigerians.
Ologunagba highlighted the country’s dire situation, including:
– Over 120 million Nigerians living in destitution
– Poverty rate soaring to over 40%
– Naira crashing to over N1,500 to the dollar
– Fuel prices soaring to over N1,000 per liter
– High cost of goods and services, with over 34% inflation rate
– Over 40% unemployment rate
– Closure of millions of businesses
– Mass exodus of major multi-national companies
The PDP urged President Tinubu to:
– Personally address the nation
– Announce major policy reviews
– Order an investigation into alleged looting of subsidy and palliative funds
– Review luxury items and purchases in the APC government and channel resources to provide food and essential commodities to Nigerians
The party called on Nigerians to remain peaceful and law-abiding in their pursuit of good governance.
