The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is making efforts to strengthen its ranks and potentially oust the current administration in the 2027 general elections. According to Ibrahim Abdullahi, Deputy National Publicity Secretary, discussions are underway to bring influential politicians, including Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, back into the party fold.

Abdullahi attributed the party’s 2023 election loss to the defection of Obi and Kwankwaso, stating that their presence would have secured a PDP victory. He disclosed that talks are ongoing to reunite with the Labour Party’s Obi and the New Nigeria People’s Party’s Kwankwaso before the 2027 elections.

The move aims to bolster PDP’s chances of winning the next elections and address the country’s current challenges. Abdullahi expressed optimism, saying, “Rest assured, there would be light at the end of the tunnel. We have learnt our lessons in a bitter way.”
