When the quest to govern the state by Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Idris was gathering momentum from a child’s play scenario,little did we know that it will suddenly metamorphosed to a very strong political movement, that will shake and shape the political foundation of the main opposition party,PDP in Kogi state
This was not a magic at all,but because of his desiring intent to make a change to the polity of the state, through purposeful and sincere ambition devoid of political vendetta,but geared towards the current political logjam in the state in the hands of shylock political leaders, at the helms of affairs in Kogi state
The strong factor to be reckoned with,in the current political development and dispensation in Kogi, meant business for the liberation of the state,that had been cocooned from the political giant state in the north central, to mere state government owing to leadership inanities
It all started from his corner office, were he operated a well organised private entity that had spanned two decades both in Agriculture, Tourism,Aviation, Transport, Industry and General Merchandise, that involved both local and international participant,culminated into huge employer of labour in all areas
To him,to make kogi great again,the like minds that involved the critical stakeholders must be involved,there fore youths as leaders of tomorrow, are supposedly the driving force of the proposed new Kogi project
For three and half years,Abubakar rolled out a formidable youths of like minds,represented by well articulated machineries from the 21 local governments in Kogi,who saw politics as a call to service,rather than service from the masses, as it is in the present order
Apart from convening such a micro body of kogites,he nurtured into the current political adventure towards the 2019 general election,making him relevant before the people of kogi state, both in the East,Central and Western senatorial districts, as this body were involved in all political campaigns by various aspirants of PDP in the state
By this record,non of the current multiple aspirant including a former governor of the state, never dare this feat for fear of the current administration averse to opposition, known as Bello phobia
With these,Abubakar had built some level of confidence on the presence of opposition PDP, not only in Kogi,but in the north central states,hitherto regarded as a dead party
This group of Abubakar Ibrahim political machinery, had brought the genuineness of his political ambition to become kogi governor to an unfathomable limelight, towards the contest to Kogi Guber election under the party
The general notion of youths failure occassioned by the current adminstration,gave this group less attention,but not knowing the strong driving force of a well articulated intention of an exposed enigma,interms of governance and management of people,changed the drivers seat
Now with the presence of a political structure on ground,Abubakar did not relent on only building on the existing structure to reach out to the mantle of leadership of Kogi through PDP, the desire to dignify the proponents of the all inclusive project need to be inculcated
He embarked on visitation to the 21 local government areas as one of the earliest contenders to Kogi governorship slot,not only on a familiarisation tour,but to intimate the delegates both statutory and elected on his desire to seek for their approval and support to run for the office of Kogi governor,a position too noble to comprehend
The PDP Delegates in the 21 local government areas of the state both statutory and elected have resolved to support his ambition, for initiating such a unique and laudable political system and on a first come, first serve basis,while others will attract less attention,it was a promise made and will be kept
It was soon after his state wide tour and endorsements by the delegates for a massive support from the 21 local government areas,that other desperate contenders decided to follow soothe,with a strong signal that a decision had already been reached on the candidature of Abubakar Ibrahim,but for healthy political environment,all righteousness must be fulfilled
Therefore,the record created by the leading aspirant through visitation to 21 local government had giving a sense of responsibility to party structure as well as delegates, unlike in the previous exercise were delegates are cajoled into doing the bits against their wish
The endorsement of Alhaji Abubakar Idris as the next Kogi governorship by the delegates as candidate was already signed, sealed and delivered as other will trail behind for September primaries in PDP
This position was re-enacted after the decision of his patriarch,Alhaji Ibrahim Idris to embark on another “Thank you tour” to appreciate first of all the delegates,party stakeholders,party leaders and top echelon of the party PDP, on their resolution to support Abubakar Ibrahim in the September primaries, without prejudice to mere political intonation or manipulation to distract the already decided kogi delegates
Abubakar reiterated his earlier promise to do the opposite of what is obtainable in Kogi state today, in all areas so as to attract fast and uninterrupted development of the state
It will be in the best interest of all other aspirants to rally round Abubakar Ibrahim, to avoid needless political wranglings from the likely outcome of the September PDP Primaries
Our desire for the people of Kogi state is to change to a tested and trusted democratic process, witnessed in the last 16 years of PDP administration in Nigeria and Kogi state,as the driver for the return of good governance and accountable leadership will be Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim
